After returning from the USA, Dr. Habbu joined the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune as a Senior Scientist, in 1990.

He then joined Reliance Industries in 1994 and had a long tenure of 30+ years wherein he headed the Technical, R&D and Sustainability activities.

Presently, Dr. Habbu is:
An Adjunct Professor at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai.
Involved with various industry associations for disseminating and establishing scientific understanding of PET and other Plastics.

Dr. Habbu is also a part of expert groups in various Governmental bodies, such as:
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
Maharashtra Govt.’s expert group on Plastics
Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC)
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

Dr. Habbu has been interacting with Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers intimately for various aspects on Plastics, Waste Management in India as well as the Indian Government’s delegation at the UNEP negotiations for formulating a Global Plastics Treaty.

Dr. Habbu has 4 papers and 4 patents to his credit.
He is familiar with 8 languages and has interests in studying the history of science in the Vedic framework.
